WELCOME TO PRIME MINISTER.
Enthusiastic Gathering At Labour Club.
A sign of the Prime Minister's popularity was seen at the Labour Club rooms on Saturday night, when a large and enthusiastic gathering of his supporters attended the club's official reception held in his honour. The function. which took the form of a s<*ia! and dance, was organised by members of the Auckland Labour Club in connection with the Labour Kepreccntation Committee. Large stands of bamboo and green foliage decorated the entrance hall to the club for the occasion, and in the lounges, where bridge was played, effective bowls of native berries and pink and white camellias had been arranged. Dancing was organised in the main room, and both modern and old-time dances were enjoyed by the younger members of the club.
Owing to a previous engagement Mr. Savage was unable to attend the function until 10 o'clock, and on his arrival he was accorded a hearty welcome by all his supporters. Mr. Savage was received by the president of the ciub, Mr. J. T. Jennings, the vice-president, Mr. J. Purtell, and Messrs. F. W. Schramm and A. S'. Richards. M.P.s. The arrangements for the evening were in the hands of the honorary secretary of the club, Mr. A. J. Williamson, and the masters of ceremony were Mr. M. C. Matthew and Mr. W. C. Pilgrim.
On arrival the guests -were received by Mrs. E. Macdonald, who was wearing an attractive frock of flame erepe suede*; Mrs. A. J. Williamson, who in black lace and georgette; and Mrs. L. R. Rogers, in black floral silk under a black net redingote.
Following Mr. Savage's address an enjoyable programme of items was given. Vocal solos were given by Miss Ada Lynn and Miss Edna Pearce; tap dances by Miss Eileen Long and Miss Joy Clow, instrumental items by Mr. C. E. Frost and party, and a demonstration of shadowgraphs by Professor Handi. The extras for the dancing were played by Mrs. Max. Large Attendance. Among the members present were: Mrs. J. T.
