MR. GATTY RETURNS.

VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. COMMONWEALTH AIR NEWS. "News » very dull at the moment," declared Mr. Harold Gatty, New Zealand and Australian representative of PanAmerican Airways, who arrived hack from a short visit to Australia by the Awatea yesterday. With all plans nearing completion for various air services which would place Australia even more prominently on the air map of the world there %vae little of vital importance happening in the meantime, he said. His own visit waa of a personal nature. Referring to the proposal that a new aircraft manufacturing plant was to be established in Melbourne by a company headed by Mr. Stuart Doyle, Mr. Gatty

said that he had heard it talked about. Mr. Doyle had some connections with an English company, but it was not correct to state that he had the license to manufacture Douglas 'planes in Australia. At present Mr. Doyle was associated only with a service to Newcastle operated with email seaplanes. There was nothing to report yet as regards Pan-American Airways and the Pacific service to New Zealand, he said. It was not expected that there would be any activity until such time as the trials of the new giant Boeings were completed. That should be at any time now. As soon as the capabilities of those 'planes were tested out plans would probably be prepared for the recommencement of activity on this route.
