RAIL MEN INDIGNANT.
MR. ENDEAN'S CRITICISM.
"BERVICB IS EFFICIENT."
Strong exception to a statement alleged to have bean made in the House of Representatives recently by Mr. W. P. Endean, M.P. for Parnell, was expressed in a resolution carried at the monthly meeting of the Auckland branch of the A.S.R.S.
The resolution read: "That this meeting views with indignation the slanderous statements made in Parliament against the members of the railway service by Mr. W. P. Endean. We consider that the statements attributed to him were quite irresponsibly made when" he contended that lack of discipline in our service was a contributing factor in recent accidents. In our judgment the discipline and efficiency of the members was never higher than at present, clearly demonstrating to all intelligent people i that the well-known axiom, 'a little ; knowledge is dangerous,' is directlv applicable to any meml>er of Parliament who indulges in such destructive 'piffle' at the expense of the country and to the profound disgust of the railwaymen ' whom he clumsily endeavours to libel."' A somewhat similar resolution is reported by the Press Association to have been ennied at a larjr» meeting of combined railwaymen at Timaru.
