SMOKE CONCERT.
OTAHUHU FIRE BRIGADE. FOUNDATION MEMBER HONOURED. Representatives of brigades throughout the city and suburban districts, and as far south as Hamilton attended the annua! smoke concert of the Otahuhu X'oluntcei Fire Brigade on Saturday evening. The Mayor of Otahuhu, Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P.. presided, and extended a welcome to the visitors. Associated with him were Superintendent A. Eustace, Councillors A. Murdoch, F. W. Grey and G. E. Jackson, and Mr. H. T. Clements. A lengthy toast list was honoured, the toasts being interspersed with various items. During the evening service decorations were awarded as follow: — Firemen M. F. Morton anil A. G. McDonald. medals for five years' service; Fileman W. G. Crowe, bar for seven .years' service; deputy-Foreinan R. F. Whittle, bar for nine years’ service: Secretary K. N. Todd, bar for 13 years' service:’ Fireman J. S. Maxwell, bar for 13 .years' service. Fireman F. W. Bennett, who was the only foundation member present, received a great ovation when he was decorated with a bar which brought his period of service in the Otahuhu brigade to 23 years.
