Prisoner-Inventor
A SAND-BLOWING apparatus invented by a prisoner while serving a hard labour sentence in the Pretoria Central Gaol has been adopted by the Union Prisons Department. The inventor has been rewarded with a gratuity of .C.'i from the (lovernment. The apparatus, which is simple in construction. is to be used in the fronting of window : panes. The inventor, who claimed on admission to prison that he could produce eueh an apparatus, was given all facilities bv the prison official*. He was allowed to work out the design while serving his hard-labour term in the prison workshop
