RESIGN TO-DAY.
RUGBY REFEREES.
DISPUTE IN TARANAKI. DIFFERENCES WITH UNION. (From Our Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Central Taranaki Rugby referees intend to resign after to-morrow's matches. They sent notice to the Taranaki Rugby Union to that effect to-day.
I - or some time there has .been a controversy among the North, Central aiul South Taranaki divisions of the Referees' Association over the appointment and control of referees. An attempt was made in South Taranaki to form a separate association.
'J he laranaki I nion last Monday took a hand in the dispute, and set up an appointment board. consisting of one representative of the southern division, one of the northern division and one * of the Rugby Union. It is to this decision that central division referees object. In addition to supplying referees for weekly senior games, the central division referees 17 weekly grade games.
