CITY COUNCIL DECISION. CANTERBURY RUGBY LEAGUE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) C'HHISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Permission to tiie Canterbury Rugby League to piny football matches oil Sundays was refused at a meeting of the City Council. Several members vigorously oppo«e<l Sunday football on the ground that it would commercialise the Salji)atli and violate the sanctity of the day. By 10 votes to seven a motion to permit a match on July 10 was defeated.
