TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. MARKETS GENERALLY WEAK. OIL THE ONLY EXCEPTION. (By Telegraph.— Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Hie markets failed to call a check to the easier price trend evident yesterday, and, apart from an improvement in oil shares, sales were at lower rates. There was, however, better support for a few banks. Buyers of E., S. and A.'s were at £4 16/6, and sellers 9d higher. Commercials were wanted at 15, 10. Wide quotations for South British were from £2 6/6 to £2 10/. i Pastoral and Woollen shares revealed little life. Felt and Textiles had an inquiry at £1 10/7. Kaiapois, with a market between 10/' and 11/9, seemed a long way from business. Continued interest in Westport-Stock-tons saw buyers of the ordinaries at 3 1 and preferences 6, 3, sellers at 3/6 and 7/ respectively. In the brewery section Dominions, cum dividend, were wide between £ 1 12/ and £1 17/. New Zealands, ex dividend, were marked down accordingly, and had unsupported sellers at £2 2/. Miscellaneous industrial shares were generally a few pence weaker than yesterday. Some New Zealand issues, however, remained tirm. Consolidated Bricks, cum the increased dividend, had a market from 8/4 to 9/6. Moturoa Oil shares in their first local sale since the boom in oil company shares brought 510 and 6/.
