SHEEP FROM CANADA.
SUCCESS IN NEW ZEALAND. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MONTREAL, May 17. In consequence of the satisfaction given by former exjKirts of Canadian sheep and lambs to New Zealand, the shipment of Canadian purebred Cheviots made late in 1937 lias elicited much prai-ie from the importers. The shipment. which was chosen by Mr. A. A. MacMillan, associate chief. Production Services, Dominion Department of Agriculture, was forwarded by the wellknown Cheviot breeders of Quebec and Ontario, ami was negotiated through the Canadian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand. The Commissioner writes in part to the Department of Trade and Commerce as follows: ''The Cheviot sheep came off the quarantine station, and I had an opportunity to inspect them. Let me say that we were more than pleased with them, and we are sure our client will also be delighted. Further than that, although I did not see the previous lot imported from Canada, I am assured by a good judge who did see them that the sheep in the present shipment are a much better lot. We have to thank vou and the Department in Canada* which attended to the selection for fullillin" this order so satisfactorily."' °
