OBITUARY.
MR. G. L. PEACOCKE. The death occurred thin morning at hiß home in Kolm&r Road, Papatoetoe, ot Mr. fieri. Id Loftus Peacocke at the age of 86 year*. Mr. Peacocke met with an accident last summer and since then he had not enjoyed the best of health. _ Pcacocke \va* the third hod of the late Colonel l'onaonby Peacocke, loiti "Tr and was bom at M*dierft in 1851. He came to New Zealand at the age of seven with liis parents who settled at Howick. As a young man Mr. Peacocke returned to England for a few years and became a Bachelor of Uf at the Middle Temple, London. He married in England and returned to New Zealand in 1879 when he took up school teaching. Subsequently, he gave up thw profession and started a newspaper, the North Auckland Settler," which later became the "New Zealand Farmer," which he was editor for 17 years.
