MAORI TAKES BXOYCIiE. A Maori, Jolmnie Romana, aged 23, was before Mr. W. R. McKcan, S.M., in the Police Court charged, on June 3, at Panmure, with unlawfully converting to his own use, a cycle valued at J£lo, the property of John Hammond. Romana pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Fox said Eomana went to Panmure to borrow ;S1 from another Maori, tout was not successful in raising this money. He took the cycle and later left it in Albert Street, from where it disappeared.' In addition to reporting the matter to the police, Eomana also told the owner he had taken it. '
The magistrate imposed a fine of £2, or .seven days 8 imprisonment.
