At the request of the New Zealand Government, the British Consulate is making contact with Dr. Hankey at Chengchow and several missions in Honan for information regarding Miss Iris Wilkinson, "Robin Hvde," the Auckland writer and journalist, reported j missing on May 27. j
Missionaries throughout Honan decided to remain at their posts as evacuation "to Hongkong and" Shanghai would mean too long an absence from work. APPEAL TO POPE. Aid Implored. Against Bombing By Japanese. MISSIONS AND CHURCHES. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, June 13 A joint appeal lias been telegraphed to the Pope, says a Hankow message, from several Chinese organisations, including the Catholic Association and Chinese professors, imploring his aid i against Japanese aggression and bombing of towns and cities. A number of missions and churches have been indiscriminately attacked.
