SOLDIERS' PENSIONS.
! In the Star 'of Juno 0 appears a letter by J. A. Govan. He makes a plea on behalf of 1 etui lied soU-ier pensioners, tlmt the present pension does not give us a fair ivmjr. I will admit th<it tilings are not what they might be, but under the present Government they are better than tliev were. Just why Mr. Govan should write as' the el.ampio.i of distressed soldiers beats me. when at the .ast general election he stood under the banner ot Messrs. Forbes and Coates, the partv that cut the pensions of soldiers, their 'wives, mothers and children. Under the T.aboii'Government the fear of cuts in pensions is removed, and the near future will see the pensions of returned soldiers increased. F. BRETT.
