MARTRYDOM OF WOMAN
Before a large audience at the Strand Iheatrc. Mrs. M. B. Soljaek delivered an address on the place of woman in society, both ancient and modern, with special reference to the place of woman in religion. Woman, said Mi*. Soljaek. had been the great inventor, the great originator. She was t/he first weaver, the first agriculturist. 11l the days of Egypt's great lien* she was not only fi equently a law giver, but. occupied high positions in the priesthood. The speaker traced the degeneration of woman's position through later centuries, leading up to the fact that with the rise of reason she was again ascendiny to a place of equality with man.
