The game •sill he played at Blandfonl Park, which is now being used as a 'Varsity sports ground. Victoria College have a very line combination , this season and, under the coaching of Jim Parker, have so far been undefeated. One of the threequarters, Eastwood, was a Wairarapa representative last season, and is the present Wellington provincial sprint champion. Five of the visitors were members of the New Zealand 'Varsity side to tour Japan in 193(>. They are Wilde, Trieklebank. Burke, Thomas and Eade. Trieklebank is also the wellknown representative cricketer. Burke was a member of the Canterbury side that won the Eanfurly Shield from Auckland in 1935. Thomas left Auckland early this year, and for many years was recognised a* one of the best forwards for his weight in Auckland. The Victoria College will be captained by Blacker, the ex-representative for many years.

Although the Auckland 'Varsity side has not met with much success this season, the team is capable of playing open and attractive football. The main weakness, ha* been lack of experience in the backs. But this lias now been remedied to oome extent by Ron Bush, who is coaehinjr the siJe, eoniinjr out of retirement to fill hi« old position as full-back. The side contains a number of well-known players. Martin, Lanjre. Armitajre and Drake have all represented Auckland. Martin was one of the wing

three-quarters in Fred Lucas' first representative team. Foreman and H"djre represented Otago when at Otago University, and Havman represented Canterbury.

'Varsity panics liave won a reputation for clean, open and attractive Rugby, and with the players this year this annual match at Ulandford I'ark on Wednesday, June 22, should l>e no except ion.
