Government 'Plane Crashes in South Africa. R.A.F. MACHINES FIND WRECK. (Reccivcil 10 a.m.) NAIROBI, June 12. Tlucc British occupants of a WilsonAirway 'plane chartered by the Tanganyika Government, were killed in a crash 50 miles from Singida. They were Mr. C. F. M. Swynncrton, Director of Tsetse Research in Tanganyika Territory; Dr. B. D. Burtt, a botanist; and William Bawdcn, pilot. Tho wreckage was discovered by R.A.F. machines after the 'plane had been missing for three days.
BIG BRITISH ORDERS. HOME AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY. LONDON', .Tune 12. The Air Ministry has placed the largest contract for aeroplanes ever given to a British (inn, and believed to exceed 200 high-speed training aeroplanes, with rhillips and Powis Aircraft, Limited, and has also ordered a large number of Airspeed Oxford monoplanes from Airspeed, Limited. The De Havilland and Percival aircraft companies' orders exceed severalfold those placed in the United States. I The aircraft will be used for training and the orders will be completed in two years.
WORLD'S LARGEST. HUGE AMERICAN AEROPLANE. KEW YORK, June 12. Shrouded in such secrecy that only a few chosen officers of the United States Army Air Corps are permitted knowledge of its construction details, the Douglas plant is building the biggest aeroplane in the history of aviation, says the' Los Angeles correspondent of the New York "Herald-Tribune." Dwarfing even Ran-American Airways' 40-ton Boeing Clipper, the new machine is intended as an-army bomber, but a commercial version has been designed. Its weight is reported to be over 71 tons, and its speed will be over 200 miles an hour.
