A RECORD TEST.

Brad man is out! The great sensation of a sensational cricket Test between England and Australia at Nottingham on Saturday came in the late afternoon, when English partisans ivere a-flush with consciousness of the recordbreaking score by England, which .precluded any possibility of Australia winning. That safe )at, Fingleton, made one of his rare failures, but Bradman had got going and the game seemed set for a draw. Then the crowning sensation of the day, almost amounting to shock — :he great Bradman out for 51, while Australia still lacked over 500 runs of reaching England's otal. The event, in its manner and sotting, somehow recalls the old nursery rhyme Irainatic closing line "along cmne the jackdaw rad snapped off his head." With Brr.iiman ;one, the game has taken on a new phase, and Australia is faced with a desperate struggle o escape defeat. By saving the follow-on hey can save the game, but they have yet to [lake 371 runs, with only four recognised batsmen left, to reach this sanctuary. Should they fail in this, then Bradman will join with the others in the final effort to stay for a day or more on a worn and tricky pitch. The chances all favour a win by England, provided the weather does not ■ rob them of the opportunity.
