HARDENING IN E>VE PRICES. The Bank of Xew Zealand has received the following advice, from.its London office as at the close of business this week on the Smithfield meat market:— The . wether market is short of supplies and prices are nominal. Small supplies of ewes have caused pricey to harden, while the lamb market is steady,- Quotations: Wethers, light 5%d to 5%d per lb, heavy 4%d to ad.; ewes. 2%d, to 4Yai\; lambs, twos 7%d to 7%d, eighty 7%d«to 7 3 / 2 d, fours V£d to 7%d, seconds to 7V£d.
