CLASSIC CLUB.
FRENCH AND ENGLISH MUSIC. The Classic Club's third meeting of the season was held in the Overseas League rooms, when an interesting programme of English and French muskwas given before a large audience of members and friends. Members who contributed items were: Miss Thora Davidson, who sang "Celia" (Old French), "Apres un Reve" (Faure). "Les trois Prieres" (Paladilhe), "Love Flew In at the Window" (Mackenzie), "The Beautiful House" (Ford), "I Love the Jocund Dance" (W. Davies) ; Miss Lillian Kennedy, who sang "Derbyshire Song" (Rowley), "Love's Precinct" (Stewart), "Cupid's Song" (Williams) and an oj>eratic aria, "Air de Lia" (Debussy) ; Miss Kay Christie presented "Ne Me Refuse Pas" (Massenet), "Like to the Damask Rose" (Elgar), "Invocation to the Nile" (Bantock), "Life and Death" (Coleridge-Taylor) ; Mr. John Ford sang "Madrigal" '( Howells), "Weep Ye No More," "Tell Me Not" (Keel). Hois Epais ' (Lully), "Vien« Aurore" (Old French) ; Mr. Stewart Harvey presented two baritone operatic songs, "Even Bravest Heart" (Gounod), "Toreador's Song" (Bizet), and "The Sword of Ferrara" (Bullard), "In Summertime on Bredon" (Peel), "Border Ballad" (Cowen). Pianoforte solos, "Two Bourrees" (Purcell), "Air and Variations in G" (Arne). "Rondo in D" (Arnold), "Sonatina" (Ravel), were given by Miss Freda Crook, and "Prelude," "Clair de Lunc " "Passepied" (Debussy), '-Rondo Scherzando" (Field), "Noel" (Gardiner). "Study in (i Flat" (Rosenbloom) were contributed by Mrs. Sholto Smith. The club president, Dr. S. Kenneth Phillips, presided at the meet in", and th<> accompanists were Dr. Phillips and Mr. Alan Pow.
