REQUESTS TO MINISTER. EMPLOYMENT AND HOUSIXG. (By Telegraph. — Tress Association.) GISBORXK, Sunday. Three major ii sues deeply concerning the Maoris were submitted bv Sir Apirana Xgata. to the acting-Xative Minister, the Hon. E. Lang-tone, at the Mangahanoa hui on Saturday, when the new social hall at the pa was opened. The problems were unemployment aid for Maoris following the introduction of the social security plan, the speeding up of Maori settlement housing-, and the question of claims for compensation for confiscated la jk!^. Sir Apirana contended that delavs were occurring in the State machinery for the housing programme. The Minister of Finance was considering the point and the Government's plans would be announced later.
