(Received 10.30 a.m.)
HONGKONG, June 10,
Able Seaman Edwin Dwyer, aged 19, has been committed for trial for the alleged murder of Leading Seaman Robert Dickinson, whom he is alleged to have shot while the latter was asleep in his bunk on H.M. cruiser Dorsetshire as it was steaming up the coast of Queensland on May 8 last.
At the opening of the preliminary proceedings, the prosecution alleged that Dickinson had made a discovery about Dwyer'e conduct, after which Dwyer was heard threatening Dickinson. Dwyer was alleged to have retained some rifle ammunition issued to a team, with which to commit the crime.
