REPORT DENIED.
DAIRY ACCOUNT SURPLUS. STATEMENT BY MR. FRASER. (By Telegrapb—Press Association.) GISBORN'E, Friday. A denial that he had stated that the surplus in the dairy account would be distributed to farmers this year only was made by the Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, in the course of an address at Giebome last evening. Mr. Fraser said that in commenting on the guaranteed price he had said it would not be fair to debit the dairy account with last year's loss. This year there wa* likely to be .a surplus of £500,000, and, as prospects seemed quite good, the Government would-not put it* policy into operation during the present year. He had said nothing about future years. The Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, would announce the policy for the future in due course. 'Whether the policy of 1 landing back the surplus would be continued would be a matter for the Government to decide.
