DRbP IN USE EXPLAINED.
When a decrease in the use of school libraries Was recorded recently for the second year in succession, tbe chief librarian, Mr. J. Bafrr, discussed the position with headmasters of city schools They found many factors militating against the use of school collections. Children were using , the ordinary branch libraries to a greater extent, and lower birthrate ana the movement of population to suburban areas had caused a drop in school enrolments in the city. The counter-attractions of radio, picture shows, entertainments and sport had also had their effects. It was found that children were also giving more of their tint* to scout and golds activities and to other juvenile dobs.
