Frederick Butler, who stated that he was a baker when found on the Awatea on arrival here from Auckland and said lie had been carried on while bidding good-bye to friends before the vessel left, was fined 40/ and costs 8/. Butler was placed in the ship's hospital ward on arrival liere but broke away. He was also ordered to pay £8 passage money. The police described him as a pest and a stowaway who came under their notice every three or four months.
