Mr. T. E. Trask, an Eltham farmer, has been nominated by the Labour party to oppose Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., for the Egmont seat in Parliament. Dr. H. X. Parton has been appointed a member of the Professorial Board of Canterbury College as representative of the lecturing staff of the college. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot. M.P.. has been unanimously nominated as the official National party candidate for Waitomo at the forthcoming general election. Mr. J. Caughley has been appointed travelling tutor for the Workers' Educational Association in Public Works camps, according to a decision of the Canterbury University College Council. Mr. K. Pullar, of Christchurch. who has been relieving in Pahnerston North as telegraph engineer, has been appointed to that position permanently. Mr. C. S. Plank, whose place Mr. Pullar is taking, is going to the United States. Mr. J. A. Lee. Parliamentary Undersecretary in Charge of Housing, left this morning for Whangarei. where he will deliver a public address to-niglit. To-morrow afternoon. Mr. Lee will officially open the Government houses at Whangarei. Mr. Kumta Brassad. a student from an Indian college in Lambassa. Fiji, who arrived in Auckland by the Niagara, i> taking up residence with the vicar of Cambridge. Rev. C. W. Chandler, to continue his studies towards subsequent ordination.
