VISIT TO FIJI.

TOUR OF WHOLE ISLAND.

SUVA, May 25,

A party of boy scouts, comprising officers, rovers and scouts, the members being F. G. Southon (in charge), D. Stanley, E. Rvan, of Mat-amata, J. Wilson and E. Pollard, of Mangateparu, L. Saunders, of Tepoi, H. W. Middleton. of Wellington, L. V. Bulford, of Te Awamutu, and R. Middleton, of Auckland, arrived in Fiji by the Aorangi on 1* liday, May 20, and were welcomed on the wharf by the Rev. H. Irving (sth Suva), B. Janif (Ist Toorak) and a party of Indian scouts from Dilkuslia.

Arrangements had been made to accommodate the visitors in the Sea Scout Hall, and all settled in comfortably.

On Saturday the party with some local scouts set off on a Lorry trip to see some of the local scenery. Following a long walk in the afternoon, the scouts attended the opening match of the Indian Soccer season, and were afterwards received by his Excellency the Governor, Sir Arthur Richards," who acted in his capacity as chief scout for I'iji and the Western Pacific.

On Sunday morning a church parade was held at Holy Trinity Pro-Cathedral, when scouts from Ist, 2nd, 3rd and 4tli (loorak), 3rd, 4th and sth, Suva pack, and cubs of the sth Suva pack attended. Another church parade was held in the evening, this time to the Jubilee Church, where the scouts were welcomed by the Rev. W. Green, chairman of the Methodist Mission in Fiji. A march through the town brought about 100 youths to the Sea Scout Hall, where all enjoyed an Island night of song. This week the visitors are the"guests of the Dilkusha School, and at the close of it a rally, camp fire and church parade will be held.

An interesting tour will later be made of the whole# island, including ni-ht camps at such places as Bau, Vunidawa, Nadarivatu, Tavua Gold Mines, Lautoka, Sigatoka, Serua and Navua. Then there will be a few days on the island of Aukgulau before tlie party returns on the next southern voyage of the Aorangi.

During the week-end in Suva several local residents offered hospitality to their New Zealand friends, and all "thoroughly enjoyed their stay.
