PROTEST UPHELD.

JUNIOR'S DECEPTION. MATCH AWARDED AVONDAIE, RUGBY LEAGUE DECISION. The unusual circumstances revealed last week concerning a sixth grade player who was reported to have played under a younger brother's name, was investigated by the junior management committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, when the player was in attendance. Transferred from Glenora seventh grade to Richmond sixths this year, the boy was a subject of protest by Avondale club on the ground of being over-age. The protest was upheld, and the match awarded to Avondale, and the youth, who was deemed to have been sufficiently punished following the disclosure of (his deception, was reprimanded.

Despite the youth's reported admission to a member of the board that lie played in his brothel's name last season, lie denied this and.explained that all he did was to _ present to Richmond Club his brother's birth certificate this year when lie was transferred. He dkl this only because lie wanted to stay with the Richmond boys with whom he 'had been training when he found he was over the grade age of 18 years, which he had thought was 18V& years.

The chairman, Mr. A. Wilkie, said that no doubt the boy had not realised the seriousness of the wrong he had done the Richmond Club, but in considering the protest they would have to look 'hard and fast to the rules. While he sympathised with Richmond, it had to be admitted that one of its players was out of order, and therefore he moved that Avondale be awarded the match. Team For Huntly. In response to a request from Huntly Marists for a team to play at Huntly on Saturday, when a team representing other senior clubs of South Auckland will play Richmond at Grey Lynn Park on the occasion of the opening of the latter club's new training pavilion, it was deckled to ask the R.V. senior B team to travel for the match. One or two Glenora fourth grade players being found 61b over-weight the match was awarded to Mount Albert, and the protest fee refunded. A third grade player, ordered off for misconduct on the field pleaded provocation, but as Ift: hart been suspended two years . ago he was stood down for two playing Saturdays. For striking an opponent a fourth grade player, a first offender, was severely cautioned. Transfers: L. J. Smith, Glenora third grade to Mount Albert; R. Wilson, Huntly South thirds to Manukau (approved by New Zealand Council); C. Davis, Avondale fifths to fourth grade; D. Rose, Glenora sevenths to Avondale sixth. R.V. CLUB.
