TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH.j SOME RECOVERIES MADE. AUSTRALIAN BANKS WEAK. (By Telegraph.—Own Corresjiondent.) CHUISTC'HURCH, this day. There were fewer falling prices on the Exchange this morning than earlier this week. Recoveries were evident in Bank of New Zealand and G. J. Coles shares, while Broken Hill Proprietary 011 an ex dividend basis were comparatively stronger than yesterday. Bank of New Zealand moved up to £2 4 (5, with more buyers at the same figure, but in the same section Australian issues lost further ground, sellers easing to £-1 16/ for K., S. and A.'s and to 15/7 for Commercials. New Zealand Breweries dropped another 2d. to sell at £2 2/, later buyers £2 1/10 and sellers £2 2/3. Though Broken Hill Proprietary sold at £2 10 3 (.the equivalent of £3 0/6 cum dividend), and G. J. Coles were 6d tip, at £4 1/6, there were losses in Zincs to £1 16/6 for ordinaries, and Wool worths (Sydney) were 2d down, to £1 0/7. Inquiry for Taranaki Oilfields at 8 9 revealed strength, and a seller came in for Moturoa Oil at 4/. Metals were fractionally easier, but very little business was done. SALES RECORDED.
