BOWLING COUNCIL.

NORTH ISLAND MEMBERS. VOTING LAST NIGHT. NO RESULT ANNOUNCED. The ballot papers given to the delegates of the Auckland Bowling Centre on Monday night contained nine names, these having been nominated by their respective centres for election of seven of the nine to represent the North Island on the couticil of the New Zealand Bowling Association for the coming year. The candidates were Messrs. A. Crawford, president of the Wanganui Centre for several years; W. Oilbert, past president of the Wellington Centre, and member of the council for one year; H. Mayo, past president of the Hawke'e Bay Centre, and member of the council for the past four years; E. T. Petty, president of the Taranaki Centre, and now a member of the council; D. G. Robertson, secretary of the Gisborne-East Coast Centre for many years; P. H. Rowe, past president of the South Auckland Centre, and a member of the council for two years; S. M. Stone, president of the association in 1928-29, and a member of the council for over ten years; W. J. Truscott, president of the Auckland Centre; A. E. Whitten, a past president of the Auckland Centre, and a member of the council for two years. The electors present would probably have been glad to hear the result of the voting, but this is never announced, and only the total result will be known when the votes of the 11 centres in the North Island are aggregated by the council executive in Dunedin.

The council for the coming year will consist of the seven thus elected, and another seven similarly elected by the 11 centres in the South Island, the equality in voting power having not been altered, although Mr. G. L. Gladding, secretary of the centre, announced in answer to an inquiry that there were 11,200 bowlers In the North Island and only 6197 in the South Island. In addition to these 14 councillors there will be four officers: Mr. W. Connor, Dunedin, now president, who will retain his seat as past president, and three who have been declared elected unopposed: Messrs. F. A. Hoeking (Auckland), president; M. J. Casey (Wellington), vice-president; S. Coldicutt (Auckland), treasurer. Asked if there was any chance to persuade the council to sanction three games each day in fTie section play of the rinks In the Dominion tournament, the Auckland - president, 1 Mr. W. .. J. Truscott, replied tfiat there was not" the slightest possibility.' There would be no apparent objection if only the local competitors were to be considered, but the council tended towards considering the position of the visitors to Auckland next January, and especially the inconvenience of getting their meals when they had to return to the city from a distant green at a flute hour.
