TOO PREVALENT.
CONVERSION OF CARS. POLICE OFFICER'S COMMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday. "These conversions of cam, especially in main centres, are becoming too prevalent," said Detective-Sergeant Jarrold in the Police Court this morning, "and it is time something was done to show these young people that they cannot convert other people's property, in this fashion." This comment was made when Timi Ropata Kingi, alias Ruakura Raroa, was charged with unlawful conversion at Hawera on Sunday of a motor car valued at £352, the jtroperty of Len Nicholls Motors, New Plymouth. He pleaded guilty. A conviction was entered, but sentence was postponed pending reports from the probation officer and the Child Welfare officer. The accused was remanded in custody. The car, a new one, was being driven from Wellington to New Plymouth, and it disappeared when the driver made a stop at Hawera. When recovered the paintwork was damaged and the battery was flat.
