TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH.j A DULL MARKET. j i N.Z. BREWERIES WEAKEN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The markets remained dull on call this morning, values showing only occasional' glimpses of strength. Banks made a poor showing, sellers predominating, and buyers coming in in only half a dozen positions, i Union Banks looked better with inquiry j at £S 3/, but the rest of Australian issues j had weak sellers. Commercials were j quoted from 15,S to 15/9. New Zealand j Breweries relapsed again, and, after selling] 3d down, at £2 2/2, had a tinal market' between £2 1/11 and ±'2 2/2. Swans, with their first local dealing this year, had | reported sales at £1 7/6. j The quarterly dividend announcement by British Tobac.os failed to improve the j jnarket, sellers asking £2 7/6. Broken Hill j 'Proprietary lost Id, but closed with buyers and sellers close at £2 19/8 and £2 19, 9 respectively. The only issue to show improvement in the Australian miscellaneous section was G. J. Coles, for which buyers went to £4 1/ to obtain requirements, further sellers being quoted at that figure after business. Dominion Builders' Supplies maintained their position at 5,/. 'but there was not much interest taken in other New Zealand company shares. Mining sales were slack. Morgans had steady inquiry at 8/7, sellers 2d away. SALES RECORDED.
