Wendy's Mailbag
PORTLAND BEES' BAZAAR. Portland. Dear Wendy, — We have had our annual bazaar, and have five pounds to send you. We had two cake stalls, two sweets stalls, and book and vegetable stalls. The penny dip did quite well, and a small side show called the "art exhibition" caused much merriment amongst the visitors. We are sending some vegetables down by the Herekino, and we hope they arrive safely. Yours sincerely, Radiance Bland, Captain Portland Bees. ♦ A SCHOOL CLUB. Cambridge D.H. School, Cambridge. Dear Wendy,— The children in Standard 11. wish to join a club. We would like it to be called the "Princess Elizabeth Club." If we cannot have this name we would like to be called the "Pirates." We are nuking ' patches and scrapbooks. We have made 21 patches. We hope you are getting a lot of patches these days. T remain, Your little friend, Des. Clayton. [That was a splendid little letter, Des., and so were the letter* received from Emmie. Marie ana Jocelyn. Well done, little people. —W.] I A LITTLE PARTY. 249, New North Road, Kings land. Dear Wendy,— We are sending in 45 patches from the "Ardent Workers" Club. You mentioned having parties and penny concerts, and our opportunity came one Thursday, because it was the birthday of one of our members, and we had a party. Each girl brought cakes or sweets, and we had games afterwards. The girls knit in the afternoon and practised for a concert after tea. Our club hopes to knit over 200 patches this winter. Lois Pooley, Captain "Ardent Workers."
