NORTHCOTE COMMITTEE. ,1 A"t a meeting of the Northcote committee of the Plunket Society held at the home of the president, Mrs. Archie 1 Campbell, it was reported that 24 new annual subscribers had been enrolled. The president intimated that a large, box of sewing had been, cent to the Karitane hospital from the Northcote members. Details for the redecoration of the Northcote Plunket room were agreed to. DAISY CHAIN CIRCLE. Mrs. Lord, the president, took the chair at the usual weekly meeting where a large gathering of ladies was assembled at the Daisy Chain Club. Hostesses for the day were Mesdames Boyce, sen., Whiteman, Willan and Dye. The vicepresident, Mrs. Corrin, opened wifh the reading of the thought for the day. During the afternoon a card tournament organised by Mrs. Barfoot was well patronised. A novelty prize was won by Mrs. Andrews. The winners in the 500 card tournament were Mesdames Bowden and Oxspring. INFORMAL MUSIC CLUB. The monthly meeting of the Informal Music Club was held last night in the Overseas League rooms. The president, Mr. Leo Whittaker, presided. An enjoyable programme was presented, two outstanding features being a group of vocal numbers by Mr. Dawson Harding and the Strauss Sonata for 'cello and piano, played by Lalla Hemus, with Mr. Whittaker at the piano. The following members contributed to the remainder of the programme: Miss Wilma Scott and Mr. Haleey Grant (piano solos) and Mrs. Kersey, May Mitchell and MauVice Casey (vocal items). AVONDALE WOMEN. The president, Mrs. Thorn, presided at the monthly meeting of the Avondale Women's Club. Miss Newton gave a short speech on the Pan-Pacific Association. The speaker for the afternoon, Mrs. Metcalfe, gave an interesting talk on her work connected with the Society-, for the Prbtection of Women and Children. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and presented with a posy of flowers in the club's colours. Mrs. Hollin sang several solos, accompanied by Mrs. Bollard, who also received flowers. Afternoon tea was served by the committee under the direction of Mesdames Earland and Uflendill.
