WELLINGTON, Friday.
Advice has been received by Mr. F. B. Stephens, research officer of the Department of Internal Affairs, of his election to membership of' the International Institute of Public Finance, Paris. This is limited to relatively few persons and confined to those who have made some distinct contribution to the science or practice of public finance.
Mr. Stephens was lecturer in economics at Auckland University College four times. In 1933 he was awarded°a Rockefeller fellowship which took him overseas for two and a half years, studying public administration in practically every country of the world.
