News of a slightly improved tone on the Sydney Kxclinngo had a firming effect on Australian industrial!*. Broken Hill Proprietarv were r|iiotei| 6<l higher, between £2 10 11 and .€.'! It, 3. and (i. J. Ddes j showed a similar improvement, with buyers at L'l 0 fl. There was nn improvement in metal shares, except in the case | of Mount Moretins, which were nlhjhtlv I higher, with a market between 8 '(i 'audi 8/10. In the banking, interest was confined to the two N'ew Zealand institutions, sellers raising their limits to C 212 '0 for Xiit louals- and C' 2 ."),' for New Zealand*, with buyers steady at £2 12/ and £2 4'o resperlively. N'ew Zealand Insurances were firmer, between i' 2 IS' and £2 IS ( ; . Government soeuritii were quoted at late rates, though the tni\ ,p<r inquiry was not as keen as yesterday, on the whole.
