MANY TRIBUTES.

HON T. BLOODWORTH, M.LC.

POWER BOARD MEMBERS.

Regret that th» Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C., had not been returned as a member of the Auckland Electric Power Board at last Wednesday's election was expressed by" the chairman, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, at yesterday's adjourned annual meeting of the board. It had been a question of "ticket" versus "ticket," and every member of the board felt sorry that Mr. Bloodworth had not been elected. Mr. Harbutt said that during the years Mr. Bloodworth had been a member of the board he had helped to smooth over many difficulties. His advice had been invaluable. Mr. S. Irwin Crookes also expressed appreciation of the services to the board and the community rendered by Mr. Bloodworth. Mr. Bloodworth said he was sorry to sever his connection with the board after serving as a member for lfi years. They had been happy years for all the members who had been associated over that long term. "I am a victim of circumstances," he said. "I have no one to blame but myself. I wanted to test out certain ideas of my own. I have tested them out and know the position." Mr. Bloodworth said he was in the happy position of knowing that nobody else in similar circumstances could have polled nearly 10,000 votes. He took that vote as an indication of personal appreciation of his services from the electors in thb power board's district. Making passing reference to his own defeat for the mayoralty of Onehunga, Mr. J. Park said that "if the "ticket" system were to continue grave responsibility would rest on the shoulders of those who selected the "ticket." If the same election was to be held again to-morrow the result might be different in certain quarters, he added.
