CLAIM FOR DAMAGES.

STREET ACCIDENT SEQUEL.

A claim for £750 general damages and £113 special damages, made by Mrs. Avis Edwards, widow, of Henderson (Mr. Haigh), against Selwyn Fitzgerald Bradley, mechanic, of Auckland (Mr. Goldstine), was heard before Mr. Justice Fair and a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday, and continued to-day.

Evklence was given that on the evening of September 2 last, about 7.20 o'clock, near the corner of Little Street and Customs .Street, when plaintiff was crossing Customs Street, she came into collision with a motor car driven by defendant, which wae coming from the direction of Little Queen Street and had been obscured by a passing tramcar.

Plaintiff alleged that the collision, which knocked her down caused her bruises, shock and a broken finger, which left her health such that she could not carry out the greater part of her work as farmer and milk vendor, and had to liiiQ assistance.

Defendant gave evidence that his car was going at a slow pace, in consequen-ce of the passing tramcar, and when he saw plaintiff on the road he pulled up in seven feet. She put out her hands against the side of the engine bonnet and was pushed over in a sitting position. He denied any negligence.
