SEQUEL TO RAID.

TEN MEN FINED. GAMING ACT OFFENCES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A fine of £50, in default six weeks' imprisonment, was imposed in the Police Court to-day on Neteon Joseph McKnight, aged 35, plumber and boxing instructor, who pleaded guilty to keeping a common gaming house. The following were convicted of being found in a. common gaming house: —■ Raymond Trevor Child, fined £3, or seven days' imprisonment; Colin Browne, Edward Richard O'Brien, Roderick Treleaven, Keith Morris, Ern Bain, Norman Wallace, Norman Davies and Hector Freeman Willcocks, each fined £2 and costs, or five days' imprisonment. The charges were the sequel to a police raid on Hood Street premises on Friday night. According to the police statement a form of two-up was being played on the premises. The police, it was stated, watched the building and saw persons, including women and Chinese, coming and going at various times between April 10 and Friday night. Some were under the influence of liquor on the night of the raid, and six large bottles of beer were under a table used for gaming. There was a peep-hole fitted with a slide operated by a bell in the door. The radio was turned in to drown the noise. Double charts were also found.
