MOVING IN.

NEW STATE HOUSES. CASEY ESTATE SCHEME. COMPIXTE IN TWO MONTHS. Although about two months will elapse before the State housing scheme on the Casey Estate at Ponsonby is completed, householders have already moved into the houses that are finished. In addition to the five tenants who are . already in, another 10 are expected to-morrow. The balance of the 127 houses in the original scheme is expected to be ready for occupation in about two months. With blue, red and multi-coloured roofs, the houses are attractive and distinctive. The housewife who takes hexjob seriously has everything to delight her heart, from the neat letter-box on the roadside to the gas or electric stove in the kitchen. The houses have every modern convenience. Built-in cupboards in the kitchens and bedrooms, and the judicious placing, of the light switches so that the confirmed reader in bed can put off the light without getting out on the cold 'linoleum, are attractions appreciated by prospective- tenants. Lights are arranged in the best positions beside the bedroom mirrors. The lamp-shades are also of the most modern and striking designs. Built-in washtubs, modern boilers, and the neatest of circular clothes-lines are supplied to make the routine of housekeeping more attractive. "We couldn't believe our good luck when we were advised that we had been allotted a house," said one housewife this morning. "We lived in rooms for six months with two children and you can imagine how we feel now. The house is delightfuHy compact and comfortable." The property, which consists of 173 acres, is situated between the Sacred Heart College property and Cox's Creek. with Richmond Road on the south. It has a sunny aspect, and, generally speaking, is well elevated. Portion of the area adjoins the lower part of Bayfield Park, and the City * Council proposes to reclaim the upper reaches of Cox's Creek foreshore, which would provide another area for housing, and a valuable recreation reserve.
