LODER CUP.
BOTANIST'S GOOD WORK-
In the presence of a large gathering in the library of the Auckland War Memorial Museum last evening, Miss Lucy M. Cranwell, botanist at the Museum, was presented with the Loder Cup, awarded by the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture to the Auckland Museum and Institute. Mies Cranwell was entitled to the credit of the award because of the Vast amount of practical work she had done and her interest in New Zealand flora.
Miss Cranwell was recently awarded the honour of a fellowship of the Linnaean Society, London, in recognition of botanical research work done in New Zealand and in Sweden and because of the efforts she had made to stimulate interest in botany through her position in Auckland. She has been granted five months' leave of absence and leaves shortly to take a research fellowship under the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, where she will study under an eminent botanist.
