EMPLOYMENT TAXES.
Last week there arrived at my house by poet an income tax return form and a circular from the Minister of Labour. Mr. Armstrong, in which he appeals to all to fill in their correct returns so the Government can extort a few more shillings from the scanty earning* of the small business people, who * nearlv all earn far less than waves. If such a small business only returned the barest existence for the ve:ir, Sd in the pound has to be paid over to" this wretched scheme of rubbing Peter to pav Paul, and Mr. Armstrong thinks this i* the solution to the unemployc.l question. We voted a Government out for this childish and unr-ist tinkering w ; th the unemployed question. The improvement that lias taken place during the past two or three years is entirely due to the vastly improved prices for our exports. The result of the local elections is the writing on (he wall for (he coming defeat of a sham Labour party. FORTY-FIVE YEARS A WORKER.
