GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
POTATOES MORE PLENTIFUL. POLLARD PRICES ADVANCE. Since l.ist report a chief feature on the local produce market has been the arrival on Sunday of the Wnipiata with a substantial cargo of about 10,000 sacks of Southern potatoes. These came to a bare market. and all merchants arc particularly busy in distributing direct from the ship's side. The price basis is £7 10/ per ton for whites and 5/ more for reds, and provides for delivery on rail or coastal boat. Later deliveries through store will be from 5/ to 7/6 per ton higher. The quality is said to be satisfactory. The pollard position in Australia is very firm. Offers arc by no means plentiful, and quotations have been .raised.
