Brilliant weather favoured the opening of the Marlborough Racing Club's meeting to-day. The course was in good order and there was a large attendance.

A protest by the owner of Mother-in-Law, who ran second, against the rider of the winner, Silver Yox, W. Doyle, on the grounds that he had hit her over the nose near the poet was dismissed. The totalisator handled £7049. 10/ against £5882 on the first day last year, an increase of £1167 10/.
