POLICE MISTAKE.
SHOCK FOR YOUNG MAN.
QUESTIONED AS SUSPECT.
A young man who was one of a party on the way to farewell a friend who was leaving by the Awateu en route to England, became unpleasantly involved in the net. that the police had spread to catch the person they suspected of being implicated in the suitcase murder. He was approaching the steamer gangway when two detectives, touching him on the arm, requested him to accompany them. The aflair passed go quietly that the other members of the party proceeded on board without immediately noticing the absence of one of their number. Removed to the whArf station it was quite a time before the victim of the police mistake could convince the detectives of his-identity. Young men of about sft lOin in height, slight in build and of fnir complexion. Utt*e knew how interested the authorities were in them over the last week-end.
