He is a roving Englishman and red-haired. Given a try-out by the association in the gymnasium he impressed and was immediately matched, his opponent being Bob McLaughlin. While the latter has not had the reputed experience of Dean—he is making hig professional debut—he wae a good amateur with a fine record. He has had 100 fights for only 20 losses. He has beaten W. Parris, New Zealand welter champion, W. Hogg, New Zealand light-weight champion and Jamieson Belt holder, Harman and Steers, North Auckland welter and middle champions, and Teddy Estall, Auckland welter title-holder. McLaughlin has never been knocked out. The main event will see the return of Cyril " 'uto, of Australia. He will meet dairy Marshall, of Gisborne. Pluto's speed and ring-craft are well-known, but Marshall has shown that he is blessed with the gift of a solid right hand, factors which have been known to wipe out many a points lead.
