88TH BIRTHDAY.
DUKE OF CONNAUGHT.
(Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. The Duke of Connaught, the only surviving son of Queen Victoria, is celebrating his 88th birthday at Bagshot, to-day. His Highness, who is in good health, is having a small luncheon party. Hie Royal Highneee tne Duke of Connauglit and Strathern was GovernorGeneral and Commander-in-Ohief of Canlda from 1911 to 1916 Later Inspector-General and President of the Selection Board, his Highnese was appointed Field-Marehall and Com-mander-in-Ohief of the Mediterranean Forces and High Commissioner in the Mediterranean in 1907 resigning two years later. He celebrated the eatietli anniversary of hie entry into the Bn-tien Army in June, 1928.
