WEST COAST ROAD.
ASSOCIATION FORMED.
The condition of the road to Piha has led to the formation of a Ratepayers' Association, embracing the ratepayers of Anawhata, Piha and Karekare. The association will be known as the West Coast Ratepayers , Association. The following officers have been elected: President, Mr. N. K. Chapman; secretary, Mr E. Brown, Piha; committee, Messrs. Ussher, Gittos, McKenzie and Waygood (Piha), Mobbs (Anawhata) and Badham (Karekare). The Waitemata County Council will be asked to receive a deputation from the association. The Main Highways Board and the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, have been communicated with, but little success has been attained. The present membership is 75. The association has a difficult task ahead of it, as, of the 10 miles separating Piha and the junction at Waiatarua, /"gbt miles of the road form part of the Auckland City Water Reserve, on which no rates are paid This throws a heavy burden on the Waitemata County Council.
