SENTENCES VARIED.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The sentence of Thaddeus Edward Doody by Mr. Justice Callan at Auckland on February 1 to 18 months' hard labour on each of two charges of theft, to be eerved cumulatively, has been varied by the Court or Appeal to 12 months' hard labour on each charge, the sentence also to be served cumulatively. Edward Jamea Young wae sentenced to three years' hard labour by Mi*. Justice Fair at Auckland on February 3, after the prisoner had pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 years. This sentence has been varied by the Court of Appeal to 12 months' hard labour.
