COMING ELECTIONS.

WAITEMATA SEAT. NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE. REV. W. C. WOOD AVAILABLE. The Rev. W. C. Wood, chairman of the Atickland Hospital Board, has agreed, at the request of many electors, to allow his name to be submitted to •the Xational party electors' committee in the Waitemata electorate for selection as the official candidate. Mr. Wood has been a member of the Auckland Hospital Board for nine years and chairman since 1936. On two" previous occasions, in the Manukau and Franklin electorates, his name was put forward for selection as a Parliamentary candidate, but he has not yet contested a seat. Mr. Wood was vicar of Papakura for 26 years. He was a member of the Papakura. Town Bo,ard for nine yeare, being chairman for two years. He wae chairman of the Papakura School Committee for twenty-five yeare, and the first president of the Papakura Progressive League. He was chairman of a committee representing the local bodies from Papakura to One Tree Hill, which initiated the scheme of paving the Great South Road in concrete. He was the first president of the Papakura Orphans' Club, and is a life member. He took a very prominent part in assisting sport in the district. WANGANVI SEAT. MR. H. C. VEITCH SELECTED. (From Our Correspondent.) WANGANTJI, Sunday. The selection of Mr. H. C. Veitoh, of Wanganui, to contest the Wanganui seat at the forthcoming election in the Xational party's interests is announced. There were four nominees, the others bein-r Messrs. C. P. Brown, G. H. Trott and W. H. Swanger. Mr. Witch is 34 years of age, and was born at C v «ss Creek. He is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Veitch. His father represented Wanganui for 25 years in succession in Parliament. The present member for Wanganui ie Mr. J. B. CotteriL (Labour).

WELLINGTON SUBURBS.

(Prom Our Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. An invitation has been extended to Mr. 0. C. Mazengarb, barrister and solicitor, of Wellington, to contest the Wellington Suburbs seat at the general election in the interests of the National party. Having practically completed the selection of its candidates for the rural electorates, the National party is nowgiving- attention to the choice of suitable candidates for city and suburban seats. The Labour candidate for Wellington Suburbs is Mr. H. E. Combe.

BAT OF ISLANDS SEAT.

(From Our Correspondent.) KAIKOHE, Sunday. The National party has received two nominations, those of' Mr. Clive Cameron, manager of the North Auckland Farmers' Co-operative at Kaikohe. and Mr. H. F. Guy. barrister and solicitor, of Kaikohe, for the Bay of Islands seat at the general election. A meeting of branch delegate* will be held in about three weeks' time to make the final selection.
