VAN AND TRAIN.
SCENE OF FORMER ACCIDENTS. When the light motor van he was driving was struck by a train at the railway level crossing at Captain Springs Road, Te Pa pa pa, yesterday afternoon, Mr. Charles Hunt, "of 218, Great South Road, Green Lane, had a fortunate escape from injury.
The train, going from Onehunga to Penrose, approached on the left of the van, which was travelling along Captain Springs Road in a northerly direction. The van apparently swerved and, when almost parallel with the train, was struck a glancing blow. The left side of the van was badly damaged, but the driver escaped with a shaking. The train stopped practically within its own length and assistance was immediately given to the van driver.
Within the last cix month* three aecidente have occurred at the Captain Springs Road crossing, in spite of the small amount of traffic on the line, which serves Onehunga.
